After coming home from California I had three days to unpack, do laundry, and repack everything to make our way to Georgia! I really wanted Kyle to come too but he couldn’t make it happen with work, so just Lilly and I went. Since seeing my family was longggggg overdue, I knew we had to go! I’ll admit I was a little nervous (like any mom would be) to travel with Lilly alone, since it was her first time flying. All our prayers were heard though, traveling with her was such a breeze!! Honestly at some points in the airport I felt like I was walking with a celebrity or something… literally everyone was smiling and waving at Lilly, and she loved every minute of it!
We stayed on a houseboat on the lake the majority of the trip. It did rain quite a bit, but I really didn’t mind because that just meant more card games, rich conversation, and relaxation. One of my favorite moments was on the 4th, we were standing on the top deck of the houseboat overlooking the lake. There were about 5 firework shows scattered across a couple mile stretch. I had Lilly on my hip, my family watching with me, and it were as if time was standing still. It was one of those moments where you look around you, feel overwhelmed with thankfulness and you think to yourself, “Man, life is good.”
As much as I love getting dressed up, it was the perfect getaway to not worry about any of that. Sometimes you just need a break from all the materialistic stuff to regain perspective on what really matters… loving the people around you.
I hope all of you had a great 4th!! 🙂
